Words of wisdom

25 March 2025

After many years of service with our team, Peter Mulholland will be set to retire! We have all valued his great knowledge and so before he leaves us to enjoy more time with his family, we thought we would ask him a few questions about having a successful career in the IT Support and Print Management world.

Looking back on your time at Aspen Solutions, what are you most proud of achieving?
In my time with Aspen Solutions, I am happy to have played my part in stabilising support for some of the older legacy Canon Uniflow and Therefore customer solutions. Also, I am happy to have played my part in introducing the more up-to-date Uniflow Online and Therefore Online solutions. Particularly Uniflow Online as this helps Aspen Solutions with an offering that can enhance Canon printer sales and stay competitive in the Print Management field, without the support burden that comes with the old On-Premise systems.

How has the industry changed since you first started, and what’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned along the way?
Well, how long have you got? When I started Jesus was an apprentice carpenter lol. But seriously I can remember working with old wet toner copiers then computers with 5 ¼ floppy disc drives and MS DOS. Fax was high tech and dial up internet was just starting.
The biggest lesson I have learned along the way is to enjoy the Tech, embrace change and enjoy learning something new every day.

What advice would you give to someone just starting their career in this field?
The same as the previous answer really. Enjoy the Tech, embrace change and enjoy learning something new every day. And if you can surround yourself with great colleagues like we have at Aspen Solutions, you will enjoy your work.

What’s a memorable moment or funny story from your years working at Aspen Solutions?
Well, I think that would be some of the many conversations I have had with Vinny Russell. As many of you know some of Vinny’s stories are very funny (and long) and probably not safe to print lol.

Now that you’re retiring, what are you most looking forward to in the next chapter of your life?
Our first grandchild “Maverick” was born last year. So, we are looking forward to spending more time with him. I will also be going to the gym and looking after my health as best I can. There will also be day trips and holidays to look forward to. And when not doing that, you will find me in my garage clearing out 20 years of junk lol!

We thank Peter for being an incredible member of our team and wish him many years of happiness with his lovely family.
