30 September 2025

IT Support engineer, Sachin in Glasgow

Next up on our interview series with the team, we have Sachin Hiwale, one of our IT Support Engineers. Sachin talks career, culture and what is important for a role in IT Support in 2025!

Can you tell us a bit about your career journey and what led you to Aspen Solutions?
I graduated from Government University in Electronics and Telecom in my home city. I worked in my field for a year or so, and later worked for a few other multi-national companies, but it didn’t give me much joy. I was interested in Information Technology so I did a couple of courses and started working in an IT company as a Support Engineer. I learnt many things there right from basic computer hardware troubleshooting, Networking, Server configuration, Server hardware troubleshooting, Server installations for OEMs like IBM, Dell, HP and Lenovo, Windows desktop/server troubleshooting and configuration. Later I joined Connect Wise as technical Support Engineer and was able to implement what I learnt, here I learnt managing, troubleshooting backups on Acronis Cyber Protect. I am so grateful that I got a chance to work with Aspen Solutions, and I was able to use everything I learnt and especially the backups which we mainly used as our backup solution and learnt many new things here with Aspen Solutions which I did for the first time.

What does a typical day in your role look like, and what do you enjoy most about it?
It’s a mixture of daily helpdesk tickets and Project work. I enjoy troubleshooting issues, finding the solution, and deploying any new solution as it gives me an opportunity to learn something new.

What’s been your most memorable moment or achievement at Aspen Solutions so far?
I feel the trust Aspen Solutions has shown in me for what I have been doing and trying to do what is expected feels as an achievement for me. In addition to it I have some certifications to complete in the coming days!

What skills or qualities do you think are essential for success in your role?
Willingness to learn, analysing with open mind, trying to find the root cause of any technical issue by staying composed.

How would you describe the culture at Aspen Solutions, and what makes it a great place to work?
I think it’s cool, I never felt pressurised for anything, the communication with all my colleagues has always been so friendly. Senior management have always been very kind and don’t remember they denied any request I made so far. Teammates are always very supportive of anything we ask for, especially Iain. Management is highly supportive, understanding of any personal challenges we face, and consistently shows empathy.

What advice would you give to someone looking to build a career in your field?
I think staying focused, speaking up if you don’t know anything and always expect and be willing to face/learn new things.

When you’re not at work, how do you like to unwind and relax?
I spend time with my family, and I make it a point to stay active with physical exercise, ensuring I get a good workout. Listening to music and playing guitar in my free time!
