The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale

While everyone else is talking about fairways, birdies and bunkers, we’ve been focused on something a little different: making sure thousands of printed pages appear exactly when and where they’re needed!

Over the past few days, the Aspen Solutions team has delivered, installed and commissioned a fleet of Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE multifunction devices at Royal Birkdale as it hosts The 154th Open.

It’s one of those projects that goes almost completely unnoticed when everything works perfectly, which, from our perspective, is exactly how it should be. Behind the scenes, these devices will support the smooth running of the championship throughout the week.

Royal Birkdale was established in 1889, but redesigned in 1922 to create the current layout, which winds its way through sand dunes towering over each fairway. Since first hosting The Open in 1954, it has been the most regular venue, other than St Andrews.

Large-scale sporting events rely on countless moving parts, and reliable print infrastructure is one of the essential services that helps organisers, officials and support teams do their jobs efficiently. Our engineers work closely with event teams to ensure every device is installed, configured and ready to perform from day one.
