Meet Lucy Moyes – People Not Products

Our interview series, People Not Products, continues with Lucy Moyes, Project Coordinator, on her career, our culture and highlights she has enjoyed along the way working with the team at Aspen Solutions.

Can you tell us a bit about your career journey and what led you to Aspen Solutions?
I joined Aspen Solutions straight after university on a maternity cover contract as a Business Support Administrator. At the end of my temporary contract, I was offered a permanent position as a Project Coordinator within the Project Management team. It was a great opportunity to continue developing my skills, and I’ve really enjoyed growing my career with Aspen Solutions.

What does a typical day in your role look like, and what do you enjoy most about it? 
No two days are ever the same, which is one of the things I enjoy most. My role involves planning projects, coordinating logistics, speaking with customers, running kick-off calls and making sure everything stays on track. I like the variety and the opportunity to work with different people and projects every day.

What’s been your most memorable moment or achievement at Aspen Solutions so far?
One of my most memorable projects was a 26-site server migration for some of our hospitality customers. It was one of the first major projects I worked on, and it gave me the chance to really get stuck in, take on responsibility and learn a huge amount. Seeing it come together successfully was really rewarding.

What skills or qualities do you think are essential for success in your role?
Organisation is probably the biggest one. Good communication is also essential, as you’re working with lots of different people and keeping everyone informed. Being adaptable, staying calm under pressure and having good attention to detail all help ensure projects run as smoothly as possible.

How would you describe the culture at Aspen Solutions, and what makes it a great place to work? 
I’d describe the culture as supportive and collaborative. Everyone is approachable and willing to help each other, which makes it a great environment to learn in. There are plenty of opportunities to develop new skills, and you really feel encouraged to take on new challenges and progress your career.

What advice would you give to someone looking to build a career in your field? 
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and get involved in as many different projects as you can. Every experience helps you learn something new. Being organised, keeping a positive attitude and always looking for ways to improve will go a long way. Professional qualifications are also a great way to build your knowledge and confidence.

When you’re not at work, how do you like to unwind and relax? 
When I’m not at work, I enjoy meeting friends for a coffee and exploring different parts of Glasgow. I also enjoy painting, which is a great way to unwind and do something creative after a busy week.
