Canon Cyber Security Event

5 May 2026

aspen solutions cyber security event with canon

A huge thanks to all who attended our first event at our new office space last week discussing cyber security with our partners at Canon.

With over 2200 cyber security attacks happening daily across the globe, it has never been more important to ensure your business is protected. Our Head of Sales & Marketing, Alan Lees, was our host on the day sharing some recent wins and what makes Aspen Solutions so trusted by our customers. We were then honoured to have 2 speakers from Canon give talks on how best to shield your business from potential cyber threats.

The Importance of Cyber Security with Syed Nasim, Senior Manager – Product, Information Security and Global Incident Response, Canon EMEA
Syed referenced several huge UK brands that came under attack in 2025 and barely survived. The average cost to a business is £3million from such attacks, although some faced losses of over £100m which certainly rocked those present in the room.
He discussed the rise of local hackers, supply chain attacks and poisoning of LLMs. Large Language Models (LLMs) are advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems. They are trained on large amounts of text data. LLMs understand, summarise, generate, and predict new content.
To combat this, Syed went into great detail on cyber hygiene. Canon offers a comprehensive approach to cyber hygiene by focusing on securing print and scan environments, which are often overlooked endpoints in corporate IT infrastructures. Canon’s security strategy emphasising a “secure by design” approach, covers the entire device lifecycle, from initial installation to end-of-life data destruction.

Navigating the future of printing with confidence with Ben Fitzwilliams, Solutions Specialist, Canon UK&I
Next up, we had Ben discussing cloud print management changes coming into play with Microsoft, who Canon have been working closely with over the years.
With devices in the workplace, even digital water coolers being the target of hackers, blocking the impact of any hack is imperative. Windows Protected Print (WPP) is a security focused protocol designed to prevent attacks like PrintNightmare by reducing the attack surface, but as Ben referenced, you have to be prepared in advance so please contact our team to ensure you’re ready. Let Aspen Solutions help you transition easily and securely.

After the speakers, we all enjoyed lunch, open networking and gave our guests a tour of the new office space. Our thanks again to our Canon speakers, Ben & Syed, and to all those who attended.

We’ll be hosting our next event in June with more info to follow soon. Keep up-to-date on the latest team news, events and products by following our LinkedIn page or by subscribing to our newsletter by clicking here.
